What a fun and unique wedding, though we wouldn't expect anything else from these two.  The day started out with the ceremony being held in the Skyline Room at the Walker Art Center.  The Walker was an interesting contrast to the backyard reception that was held later.  All of the sharp lines and white walls, made for a clean yet effective backdrop.

Kirstin and Ben did much of their own design and planning for their wedding. (and did a wonderful job at that!).  From the wild flowers to the many birch accents, their wedding encompassed nature.   The invitations were raised with a birch texture and the programs were adorned with actual birch bark (purchased from the Bark Canoe Store).  The chuppah was made out of birch wood by Kirstin and Ben themselves.  With a small wedding party, we were able to spend a substantial amount of time with just Kirstin and Ben getting awesome images of them throughout the Walker.

For the reception, we traveled out to Kirstin's parent's house for their backyard reception!  A massive white tent lit with colorful lanterns and thoughtful place-settings engulfed the yard.  All of the cool, mismatched dishware was purchased from Salvation Army and Savers stores across the city.  How much fun it must have been for Kirstin and her mom to discover all of these treasures!    The table runners were handmade by Kirstin's grandmother. The food?  Let me just tell you about the food!  Fresh grilled salmon, heirloom tomatoes and the like were perfectly prepared and displayed to match the feel and theme of this unique reception.  The band kicked things off with a bang a little too well; as twilight approached, we were greeted with the loud wail from the local tornado siren!!  You read it right, everyone made their way into the basement as we waited out a tornado that touched down a mere 1.5 miles away (be sure to check out the collage of people checking the radar and nestling in the basement at the end of the slideshow).  Most definitely a first for us:) We are happy to report that the festivities sustained only a few drops of  rain and very little wind! Crazy how tornadoes work huh?

We would like to thank Kirstin and Ben for including us in such a fun wedding.  We wish you both the absolute best as you start your new life together.  Be sure to take peek at a few of the highlights below, and don't forget to watch the SLIDESHOW!

P.S.  If you would like to be alerted of when all of the pictures are available, or order any, you can get to Kirstin and Ben's online gallery by using this LINK. If you register before the event is released (ie. now), you are eligible for a $5 gift certificate!
